Ganesh, the god of goodluck and success who is worshipped before worshipping any other gods in any spiritual rituals in hinduism or before starting any new work.He is the son of Shiva and Parvati.He has elephant head, curved trunk and big belly of human and is always riding a mouse.His big elephant head represents wisdom, the trunk represents Om and his human body representing the existence of human on earth.He is the lord of success, wisdom and destroyer of evil.The popular story of how ganesh got his elephant head goes like this..One day while bathing parvati created a boy out of her body dirt and she assigned him to guard her doors when she was bathing..right then, god shiva came back home and asked the boy to let him in.But as a sincere guard, the boy didnot let Shiva enter the house.God shiva got angry that a stranger is not allowing him to enter his own house so he struck off the boys head.Parvati couldn't bear the grief and insisted that she wants him back alive.God shiva then sent his men to earth to fetch anyone's head whomever they find first..After sometime the men came back with elephant 's head and god shiva replaced it to the boy's head and gave him another life and named him Ganesh.
